A Juneteenth Celebration (Film Trailer)

This Saturday, Marvin Curtis and the South Bend Symphony Orchestra will present a special concert on Juneteenth, the first time the company has performed to celebrate the emancipation of enslaved Africans in Galveston, Texas, in 1865.

The hour-long celebration was filmed at Debartolo Performing Arts Center, featuring music from four composers of African descent, interviews with Gladys Muhammad and Latorya Greene, performances by Emorja Roberson and Pam Blair, and scenes from South Bend.

The film will air on WNIT Public Television at 9:00 PM on Saturday, June 19th, and we will publish a streaming link here on the blog.

Until then, enjoy the trailer.
